DOST Undersecretary for Research and Development Dr. Rowena Cristina L. Guevara visited the Concentrated Solar Power and Ocean Renewable Energy laboratories of the Ateneo de Davao University’s Mindanao Renewable Energy Center (MREC) at the SHS Bangkal Campus on May 27, 2022.
The Mindanao Renewable Enerqy R&D Center aims to catalyze and support the conduct of research and development on renewable energy to reinforce energy policy and accelerate utilization and commercialization of low-carbon technologies. The Department of Science and Technology (DOST), through its Science for Change Program (S4CP), supported the establishment of two research laboratories, namely: concentrated solar power (CSP) and ocean renewable energy (ORE).
The CSP research aims to design, develop, and investigate a working solar thermal system for both electricity generation and process heating applications.
The ORE research aims to design, develop, and investigate a working floating marine renewable energy system for electric generation.
