Engr. Mardione Albert Mozo, Mechanical Engineering Department Chair, has been chosen as the SDG Youth Champion of SDG GOAL 7: Affordable and Clean Energy by The 2030 Project.
Engr. Mozo’s research area focuses on rural development using alternative energy. Some of his studies that highlighted renewable energy and rural development are: Design, Implementation and Impact Assessment of Modern Energy Access of Indigenous Community: The Energy Plus Approach for Sitio, Patulangan, Bukidnon, Philippines; Assessment, Design, and Implementation of Passive Solar Tracker Using Hydraulic Power for a Photovoltaic System in Zambanguita, Bukidnon; Production of Biodiesel and Bioethanol from Artocarpus odoratissimus (marang) Wastes; and Concentrated Solar Power – Design of the Thermal System.
The 2030 Project is a non-profit, youth-led, and volunteer-based sustainable goals initiative in the Philippines. It aims to create a network of youth leaders and youth-led organizations promoting the United Nation’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda by 2030.
Every year, The 2030 Project features 17 exceptional youth champions from the islands of Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao in a one-day youth summit of SDG advocates across the country. The Leaders Unite summit this year will be held on September 21, 2019 at the Finster Auditorium, Ateneo de Davao University, Davao City.
