Students, teachers, and stakeholders from all over Northern Mindanao gathered at the Performing Arts Theater of the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines – Cagayan de Oro to take part in the Northern Mindanao leg of the Mindanao Renewable Energy R&D Center (MREC) Caravan on Careers in Renewable Energy.
The event was graced by experts from the top research centers in Mindanao, with representatives from USTP-CdO’s Power Institute, Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology’s Center for Energy Research and Technology, and Xavier University’s MindaCELLS project. The event also featured partners from the RE sector, including New Energy Nexus Philippines, Mindanao Goes Solar, Mindanao Renewable Energy Acceleration and Coordination Hub (MInREACH), and Greenergy Solar.
During the activity, students from all over Northern Mindanao listened as the guest speakers presented their work and studies, with renewable energy applications of technologies such as geographic information systems, waste-to-energy applications, and artificial intelligence. The participants were also able to engage with the RE industry partners through the various display booths found throughout the event.
